Iranian late president Raisi buried after dying in helicopter crash
TEHRAN: Following his death in a helicopter crash, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was laid to rest on Thursday, May 23, capping several days of funeral services that were attended by large crowds of mourners, according to official media. Before Raisi was buried, hundreds of thousands marched through his hometown of Mashhad. These marches came after processions through the towns of Tabriz, Qom, Tehran, and Birjand. Along with his foreign minister and six other people, the Year-old also perished on Sunday when their chopper crashed in the northwest of the country while they were returning from the inauguration of a dam near the border with Azerbaijan. The authorities, including interim President Mohammad Mokhber, will concentrate on setting up an election for a new president scheduled for after the five days of public mourning, which were declared on Monday, have ended.
